Arthur’s Seat / Holyrood Park

How cool is it to have an extinct volcano in the middle of our capital city? Set amidst some great parkland where you can “lose yourself” in the heart of the city.
My family has had snowball fights at the top, rolled Easter eggs (and ourselves!) down the hill, walked the dog and had many a happy picnic there too. When they were young, my kids loved the pond and the swans. These days, they enjoy leaping around on the rocks. It’s a great place to be at all times of year.

RZSS Edinburgh Zoo

The great thing about RZSS Edinburgh Zoo is they always have something new to see, along with all our old favourites. Edinburgh is truly world class because of their commitment to conservation and the range of exhibits. Their facilities for all the family are excellent and the quality of information they provide makes it an educational and thought-provoking day out – as well as lots of fun!
Each person in my family has a different favourite place at the zoo: the pandas, the tiger, the penguins, the chimpanzee house and the painted hunting dogs. A really superb day out.

Botanic Gardens

The Botanic Gardens in Edinburgh offer an all-year-round escape from city life. A safe place for children to run around, feed the ducks and spot squirrels whilst the adults enjoy the surroundings. My favourite area is the Chinese Pavilion and the glasshouses are always worth a visit. No trip to the Botanics is complete without a stop for coffee at the Terrace Café, admiring the Edinburgh skyline.
